Post-operative depression is not uncommon. Many patients feel frustrated and somewhat weepy after surgery. This is a common occurrence and a normal part of the physical and emotional healing process. You may feel an emotional let down as your energy reserves are drained. This will pass. Within a few weeks to months your energy and positive attitude will return. If needed, seek psychological support and counseling and plan to attend Support Group Meetings. Visiting with other patients will help you feel better.

Support groups are especially helpful for those who feel they have not been very successful after surgery. Sometimes, people need someone else to encourage them to continue and hold them accountable.

Currently, a support group is held the 3rd Thursday of each month at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital in the Conference Center on the first floor. To register, call 713-897-5959 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Please come in the Pinecroft entrance.
